In 2012 Rob Barber was injured in crash at the Ulster Grand Prix. The level of care Rob received was world class. It’s not until the racer is injured to they realised who the real heroes are.
Rob was treated at trackside by the late great Dr John Hinds and was transported straight the Royal Belfast Hospital. On arrival he was taken straight the Resus Room. This is normally a very lonely and scary place with a lot of racers worried about the team and family members. By this point Rob was left with no phone, no cloths, no money. This is where Rob first meet Yvonne one of the Injured Riders Welfare ladies. She made all the necessary contact to family and relied back to another one of the ladies back in the paddock to keep Rob’s team up to date. We all know the power of roamers at a high profile event these days.
When it was time for Yvonne to leave Yvonne left Rob with some cash in case he needed it for anything. It didn’t stop there they kept in regular contact with Rob and helped him get a flight home and even helped him financially while he was off work due to his injuries.
Rob personally know of many riders that have past and present that have been personally helped by the ladies and the fund so dig deep and help this awesome cause where 100% of the money goes into the fund.
